ONDA MEDITERRANEA
A sea of sounds
‘Onda Mediterannea’ expresses the coexistence of identities, cultures, and
sounds connected to the Mediterranean sea.
Like an imaginary master of orchestrations, the Mediterranean sea has the power
to connect the cultures, enriching them through their differences.
The songs presented by ‘Onda Mediterranea – a sea of sounds’ are fragments of
tradition and art coming from different geographical areas directly influenced
by the cultural basin of Mediterranean Sea.
Onda Mediterranea gathers different musicians living in Sicily. Working together
they take the chance to exchange musical ideas which originate arrangements and
music performances characterized by a particular syncretism aimed to the search
of what the expressive intentions of both tradition and innovation have in
common. The different experiences of the musicians mix together thanks to simple
rules born from the natural interplay of the collective praxis of making music.
This kind of interplay is suggested from the same musical traditions we refer
to, and looks forward to experiment a contemporary way of living and playing
music, today.
